Last night in volleyball action, our Lady Thunderbirds captured their second win of the season against Unity Christian. We had some tough serves and awesome attacks. Great team effort ladies!
Goooooooo Twin!
|
Jr girls Volleyball
|
Last night the Jr Girls volleyball team faced off against Romeo Dallaire right here in the Thunderdome. We will talk very little about the first set, suffice to say rare things sometimes happen, mysterious planet alignment, albino squirrels, snow days in June. After the first set loss the girls regrouped and took the second set. Ezrie Burke lead by example solidifying the defense and starting the comeback. In the third game strong sets by Sophie Gough lead to thunderous hits from Autumn Prior and the beginning of the end for Romeo Dallaire. The forth set saw a dominate serving run by Avery Bell which crushed Romeo Dallaire's spirit and propelled the Thunderbirds to a 3-1 victory. Congratulations girls next up Stayner on Thursday.

With great teamwork and fantastic skill, our senior squad started their season off with a 3 to 1 win!
Way to play ladies!

Jr Girls Volleyball
|
Last night the Thunderdome was rocking; the season opener for the Jr. Girls Volleyball team saw the Thunderbirds face off against the Georgian Bay Bears. The first set started with some nerves as many of the girls were playing their first high school match. The Thunderbirds however quickly got into a groove and cruised to a first-set win. With a few substitutions to the line up the second set got off to a bit of a slow start. The Thunderbirds however quickly got on track and cruised to a second-set win. The third set saw even more changes which led to some confusion on the first few plays. However, the thunderbirds quickly came together as a team and cruised to a third set and match victory. From the start to the finish, Georgian Bay couldn't handle Twin Lake's strong serves and huge hits. No hesitation on defense meant Georgian Bay couldn't find a way to score. Congratulations girls on an excellent game and a well deserved victory.

Sr Boys Volleyball
|
Hey Twin this past week your senior boys volleyball team travelled to Stratford to compete in OFSAA against the top 20 teams in the province. Day one, game one they had to go up against the top seated LaSalle, who eventually won gold, and they hung with them until the end. Garneau was a tough matchup but still the second unit was able to hang in the second set and the same for the matchup against Silverthorne, who went on to win bronze… Friday morning However was a different story going up against the higher seated kings Christian. the boys fought valiantly and won in three sets to punch their ticket to the consolation quarterfinals. Despite taking the second set into overtime the boys unfortunately fell eventually to the mighty St Joes from St. Thomas… Mr. Corry wants to send out his many thanks to the coaching staff Mr. Kerr Miss Wick and Mr. Fogarty for all of their contributions. And of course, to the boys for their effort integrity development and overall exceeding of expectations this season: Casey, Deacon, Kaoru, Garret, Max, Zach, Aidan, Lincoln, Owen, Trent, Erik & captains TJ, Michael & Connor, thanks for helping our team go back to back to OFSAA!

Welcoming Gr 8's
|
Today we are welcoming our second set of grade 8 students to Twin Lakes – more new grade 9’s for next year! They will be in all parts of our building from 11:30 to 1:15 and we expect that Twin students will be fantastic role models for the grade 8s, just as you were on Tuesday! Please show them yet again what a dynamic, respectful, and wonderful place Twin Lakes is!
This is also a reminder to the LINK Leaders who are our tour guide ambassadors today, to meet in Guidance with your LINK shirt at 11:15 a.m.
Please listen carefully to the following changes to our daily routine due to the visit from grade 8s today:
-
The cafe will be open only for the first half hour of lunch, so that custodians have time for clean-up and seating set-up. You can make purchases from the servery and eat in the cafeteria until it is shut down at 11:15.
-
The cafeteria and servery will also be closed during afternoon break.
-
From 11: 15 to 1:15, Twin Lakes students are asked to use the washrooms on the first and third floors, NOT the second floor. The SECOND FLOOR WASHROOMS will be reserved for use by GRADE 8 STUDENTS ONLY while they are visiting.
We recognize these changes are not convenient, but we appreciate your cooperation and thank you for your patience.
Today is our final Grade 8 Day. The students will be visiting a variety of classrooms while at Twin, and we expect high school students will be on their best behavior in welcoming the grade 8s today.
Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation!
